"Same As It Ever Was"?

Nothing is like it used to be, everything is different!

NUFF has been a meeting place for young filmmakers and an arena for "The Future of Film" for 17 years. With the current travel restrictions, quarantine requirements and practical uncertainties that the current situation entails, we have decided to make NUFF happen in a brand new way – while keeping the essence of the festival very much the same!

NUFF will therefore take place entirely online this year, from June 19 to 28. You will be able to watch films from home, host a watch party virtually (or physically if you can!), interact with filmmakers and film professionals from your phone, smartphone or tablet, and a lot more!

What has made NUFF successful for so many years is its core principles: empowering young filmmakers, and bringing film enthusiasts from all over the world together, to learn from one and collaborate on filmmaking projects. All of this will still happen during NUFF 2020 – not in physical form, but through digital platforms.

How will that work in practice?

This year, more than 3000 films from 115 countries were submitted to NUFF, that’s a record! We are so excited to show you the film we have selected for the two film competitions, the Nordic Competition and the International Competition: the films will be available online at selected screening times during the NUFF 2020 week, from June 19 to 28.

There will be an opening night, and juries of professionals will select the best films, which will be presented at the awards ceremony. All online and free to access!

The second core of NUFF is the film workshop. This year, almost 40 participants registered! They shall still have the opportunity to participate in the new, digital version of the workshop, taking place from June 19 to 26.  The participants will be divided in groups, have access to exclusive masterclasses, and benefit from a daily online follow-up with a mentor to make a short film. All of this in 6 intense days of filmmaking!

The films made by the workshop participants will then be presented and screened online.

Where will I be able to watch the film?

We will update all relevant information related to the screening of films and online events on an ongoing basis. Check our website and/or Facebook page regularly!
