From the bittersweet end of a cherished hunting tradition between a grandfather and his grandson to a man’s attempts to relive the carefree days of youth with old friends, each story explores a different kind of change. Delight in the whimsical tale of music-loving puppets, feel the struggle of a Nanai man fighting to provide for his family in isolation, and follow a young woman’s journey as she finds her place on a Norwegian farm. "Fences" is about the moments that challenge us and the unexpected strength we find to move forward.

A Nanai man living in difficult conditions in a remote village on the banks of the Amur River must support his small family by fishing. He, his wife and child have been living for many years according to the long-established way of life in these places. There are few residents left in this remote village and there are no prospects for settlement. Recently, by the decision of the authorities, fishing in these places has become controlled, which further complicates the life of the family. However, he is not going to leave here, despite constant calls to leave his native land.
