Mother Meerman is the only hope of the village of Toktobek-Sai, which is surrounded by water. Forty families live on the peninsula, which does not have the status of a village. The film character, having no medical education, uses herbal medicine to heal people. Over 30 years of her experience, she has helped to give birth to 137 women. In recent years, she has been mentoring others by sharing her experience. She is affectionate, kind and heroic mother at the same time.

In 2017 Alex’ friend Sebastian went to rehab due to his gambling addiction. Neither did Alex know that his friend had a gambling problem, nor did he know how this kind of addiction works. So he decided to conduct an interview with Sebastian.
The sound file remained unused for 3 years, until Alex teamed up with his brother’s girlfriend Emily, a freelance artist. Together, they created this unique, hand-drawn short film that portrays the horrors of pathological gambling, while at the same time showing that there is hope.

BOAZOVÁZZI is a fascinating documentary that, through its protagonist Ellen-Maaret, speaks of the importance of reindeer herding for indigenous communities; it is also about the challenges of balancing city life and traditions.
