ADRIFT

Saturday 26th 15:30 - 17:00

Journey through the complexities of identity, relationships, and societal expectations in this compelling program. Meet three colleagues reflecting on the everyday and existential moments of life while working at a gas station, and hear the voices of queer individuals in the Middle East as they navigate challenges unique to their region. Follow a young woman seeking true connection in an increasingly divided digital world, and witness the emotional journey of an 18-year-old facing an unexpected pregnancy. Finally, explore the transformative experiences of transgender and non-binary individuals as they embrace their evolving selves. "Adrift" captures the struggle and beauty of finding one's place in a world that often feels unsteady.

We’ll have an intro before the beginning of the screening and a Q&A after.

Khawf

"Khawf" documents the experiences of Queer individuals in Middle Eastern countries, where they have to resist a daunting combination of religion, deeply ingrained beliefs; and a society that condemns them for something they didn't decide to be and can't change. Through a collection of real-life stories, this documentary showcases a dangerous immersion into the daily lives of Queer individuals from the Middle East, revealing the risks they must undertake to express their true selves when no other option is available. Their stories are proof of their bravery and also an urgent call for empathy in a world where privileges make people disconnect from reality.

On the Other Side Of

The work explores the transgender and non-binary body in transition through the 19th century photographic process mordançage. The mordançage, using its tremendous chemical pressure alters the silver gelatine prints, causing them to undergo slow, gradual transformation. The tissue of the body and of the print breaks and a new life, new forms are born.
