Masterclass with Marte Vold

Letters.jpeg

The NUFF workshop represents a special challenge this year. How are 7 groups of 4 participants, each located in different countries (some in different time zones), supposed to produce 7 films from the initial idea to the finished film in just 6 days? Marte Vold's masterclass may be able to provide some answers to this question. Her last documentary film, LETTERS, was produced under similar conditions. To create the film, Marte filmed her daily life in Norway while her co-author Jéro Yun shot footage in South Korea, communicating through film clips and online meetings only. They only met in person at the premiere of the film in Busan (South Korea). A successful experiment.

Marte Vold is an experienced filmmaker and cinematographer, and one of this year’s NUFF-mentors.

with Sivert henriksen & Kristian Olstad

This seminar will focus on the importance of music in film and how to communicate and collaborate on film music. Since the dawn of film, music has been one of the most important key elements in storytelling techniques in film and this seminar will focus on how to use and direct an audience through music. How do you create tension, emotion, memories, suspense and lead an audience member into believing certain things?

Sivert Henriksen has extensive experience in teaching as well as sound technician for many of the city’s artists and bands. Kristian Svalestad Olstad debuted as a solo artist with the 2012 release KOL, and made his mark in Norway as a contemporary guitar player with a electronic and forward thinking style of playing. In recent years, Kristian has been working/touring with artists and composers such as; LEAGUS, Kantona, Mari Boine, Anneli Drecker, Petter Carlsen, Herman Rundberg, MØRK and Jakop Janssønn.

Both Sivert and Kristian are mentors to the film music workshop at NUFF 2020.

NUFF Club

Presented by Tvibit’s Kreativ Teknologi team

Still-NUFF Club-choices.png

In 2019, a handpicked group of young filmmakers and developers were tasked to create an interactive film under the same time constraints as the other workshop groups. The result was a resounding success, a hilarious, madcap adventure where audience choices determine the eventual outcome of the film collectively through their smartphones. This special screening of "NUFF Club" will be followed by a masterclass that delves into the chaos and the creativity that led to the making of the interactive film led by co-mentor Ismet Bachtiar and key members of the workshop group.

Online - the future of film festivals? - Live-Stream

Panel discussion

YCN Network meeting 2020.jpg

Due to the COVID-19 situation, more and more film festivals have been forced to think differently, and many of them chose to go online. As lockdown measures were introduced in many countries across Europe in March, the international youth film festivals and youth film workshops in particular reacted quickly and spontaneously by re-organising their festivals using digital solutions. In this seminar discussion, three festivals will present their recent online experiences and discuss with their representatives if and how the future of film education can be shaped. What does the current changes mean for festival makers? How is the audience reacting? Will we simply return to a “normal” state once the health crisis is declared over? What can we already learn from these experiences? The panel will be constituted of Arne Papenhagen from the FiSH-Festival Im Stadthafen in Rostock, Germany, Philipp Audel from Werkstatt Junger Film in Wiesbaden, Germany, Tor Vadseth from the Northern Norwegian Film Centre in Tromsø, Norway and Hermann Greuel from NUFF in Tromsø, Norway.

The event will take place in a ZOOM video chat and will be streamed live on the NUFF website.
