Emerging technologies and processes are bringing a whole new set of possibilities to the table, allowing a new level of immersion and interaction. But they are also changing the rules, making the future uncertain and exciting at the same time. For up and coming filmmakers and creatives alike - where do they see themselves in this future to come?

SEEK: Refractions  is a workshop focused on new media experimentation that is taking place in Tromsø from the 11th - 12th of January 2020. The theme of this special workshop is refraction -  a process which aptly describes the passage of these mediums - in this case through the lens of the proverbial film industry. Participants are invited to work in teams and explore, imagine and design ideas for the future of the film industry - against the backdrop of the 30th anniversary of the Tromsø International Film Festival.

The workshops will be led by a team of experts (see Mentors) who have worked with developing ideas, strategies and groundbreaking productions that takes that bold step into the future.  SEEK: Refractions will give participants the unique opportunity to test out exciting new technologies, understand its potential and limitations and to virtually expand their creative visions. Through the weekend, teams will also have a goal to pitch a project of their own design, with the best concept getting the opportunity to be developed further at SEEK@NUFF (Nordic Youth Film Festival) 2020.

In addition - the team with the best concept will get to experience TIFF 2020 with full accreditation and accommodation.

Filmmakers and creatives alike between the ages of 18 - 26 can apply to join us for this special workshop before the 9th of January 2020. Workshop is free of charge and food will be provided for participants, but spaces are limited so act fast and grasp the future of film in your hands!
We also provide travel expenses up to 6 participants living in Northern Norway outside of Tromsø.
