SPECIAL SCREENING
Schramm
35mm screening
Intruduction and discussion by Martha Otte (director Tromsø International Film Festival - TIFF) with director Jörg Buttgereit
horror; Germany; 1993; 60:00
dir: Jörg Buttgereit
script: Jörg Buttgereit, Franz Rodenkirkchen
music: Gundula Schmidt, Max Müller
camera: Mannfred Jelinski
actors: Florian Koerner von Gustorf, Monika M. 60 min 35mm engelske tekster
Lothar Schramm is dying, face down in a pool of his own blood. Behind his closed eyes, fractured memories repeat themselves in a neuronal fire. He runs by the sea. He lusts after the whore across the hall. He staggers through life uncertainly. He kills.
Schramm is the story of the notorious “Lipstick Killer” Lothar Schramm’s last days on earth. Revealed in a series of tightly constructed flashbacks, the film offers an unflinching look into the mind of a serial killer. Uncompromising in its depictions of violence and perversion, Schramm is a poetic masterpiece guaranteed to make you squirm.

SEMINARS
Filmmusic seminar
by Søren Hyldgaard
Music on film can be a powerful tool for creating emotion and stories. Many young filmmakers cooperate with musicians to create original music for their films, something that elevates both the originality and quality of the films.
I connection with the award for best original score started by NUFF and "Nordic net arena for young filmmakers", composer Søren Hyldgaard will hold a seminar on the importance of music in film. He will tell about his work, show clips from films he has worked with, and give advice to young filmmakers.
Søren is a composer from Copenhagem, and has among others created the music for "Mørkets Øy" (1997), "The One and Only" (1999), "Edderkoppen" (2000), "Help, I am a fish" (2000), and "Dogville Confessions" (2003).

50 years Godzilla - the monster from Japan
A monster lecture by Jörg Buttgereit
Since 1954, the birth of Godzilla, the Japanese island kingdom has been harassed by gigantic monsters. Godzilla, Gamera and other creatures of the ancient world are regularly destroying Tokyo. Even today there are yearly produced independent monster films in Japan, and most pass unnoticed in the rest of the world.
Jörg Buttgereit, monster expert and one of this year's NUFF workshop holders, talk about the strange Japanese monster culture. Japanese people have a dear, if not religious relationship with their monsters. They represent the national trauma of the nuclear bomb in Hiroshima, the fear for natural disasters as earth quakes and typhoons, or insecurity for a world crisis in the economy.
Buttgereit has visited the film studios of production companies Toho and Daiei in Tokyo, and interviewed directors, special effect makers, monster-actors (!) and fans. In Chicago he documented the "G-convention", the biggest Godzilla convention outside of Japan. Saturday 2nd of July you can hear and see more about this fascinating culture from the expert himself.
